The Resilient Vanilla Supply Chain Project: Conservation and Business
With the ambition of establishing new vanilla plantation zones through integrated approaches that bridge conservation and business, the area bordering the Pointe à Larrée protected area was selected for the Resilient Vanilla Supply Chain project. This initiative is co-funded by L3F and the French Development Agency (AFD).
Tambatra is the direct result of this project, designed to address the challenge of creating lucrative livelihoods for communities surrounding the protected area, thereby mitigating illegal exploitation.
Territorial Footprint: Intervention Zones in Analanjirofo
Consequently, Tambatra’s primary intervention zone is located in the Analanjirofo region, specifically within the Soanierana Ivongo district, covering four rural communes : Antanifotsy, Manompana, Ambodiampana, and Fotsialanana.
All vanilla plots belonging to Tambatra members are georeferenced, ensuring that every product is fully traceable from the farm to the final destination.
